A music video is a short film or video that accompanies a piece of music. During the video, normally the band or artist is portrayed within the story or tells the story through the words of the song.
Music videos are also used to give the audience more than just a song, they are also used to give an audience an insight into the nature of what happening within the song, this giving the audience more of an understanding of what’s happening in the song and also making the song more entertaining for viewers.
However there are more reasons to why music videos are used. Moving away from the song itself artists use music videos to portray themselves and to advertise themselves in a way in which the audience become familiar with them. These videos could also be used to set certain trends and individuality within a certain singer making them stand out from the rest of them.

Finally and most simply music videos are there to show the artist singing the song, again giving the audience a better perception and view of that artist.
